Nail Care

If you have a problem with your nails then this is the page for you. Very few women have perfect nails and the reasons are all too familiar - from nail biting to dehydrated nails caused by air-conditioning systems to thin or peeling nails. Luckily, most nail problems can be sorted out with the appropraite nail treatment and a little homecare!

Nail Biting
Can be a difficult habit to break, but the rewards if you do are worth it. If your nails are not too badly bitten, then a set of enhancements may be the answer - not only will they transform your fingers instantly, but they will protect your natural nail underneath giving it time to grow back.

Ridged Nails
The normal thickness of a fingernail is about 0.5mm, with a toenail being approximately double this. Ridges and discolouration are commonly found in older nails and regular manicures and pedicures will help to rejuvenate this type of nail.

Peeling or Flaking Nails
Flaking can be caused by incorrect nutrition or may be linked to a medical problem, such as an underactive thyroid. These nails lose the natural adhesive that holds the layers of the nail together, and then begin to peel apart, layer by layer, until they are weak and thin. Peeling can be the result of too much water being absorbed by the nail, which in turn causes the nail plate to soften and swell, leading to peeling.

My first piece of advice would be to always wear gloves when working in water or with chemicals. Secondly, an excellent treatment for peeling and flaking nails is almond oil, as it moisturises dry, brittle and peeling nails.
